General Overview
We are accepting applications for a funded postdoctoral fellow position based at the newly built interventional unit for clinical research in treatment of cancer by magnetic guidance of bacteria loaded with therapeutics. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team-oriented research environment within the Lady Davis Institute (LDI) for Medical Research (http://www.ladydavis.ca/) and the Segal Cancer Center (https://www.jgh.ca/care-services/segal-cancer-centre/) , in a world-class facility affiliated with the premiere Canadian University (https://www.mcgill.ca/). The project involves a large multidisciplinary team of senior oncologists, radio-oncologists, interventional radiologists, engineers, surgeons, gastroenterologists and medical physicists.

An important aspect of this fellowship is the unique opportunity to participate to a phase 1 / 2 clinical trials of a new non-invasive therapy allowing targeted and non-systemic treatments in oncology and other diseases requiring targeted and direct delivery of therapeutic agents combined with interstitial brachytherapy approaches for breast, ENT, pancreatic and rectal tumors.

Candidates must hold a recently obtained relevant PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, and be within 3 years of the degree completion of Radiation oncology or Radiology residency program.

The successful candidate will be directly involved in the development of the interventional aspects of clinical research projects and have the opportunity to acquire experience on all aspects of the workflow from patient selection, intervention planning, tumor countering, patient immobilization, treatment and monitoring. Experience in brachytherapy or interventional radiology is highly desirable.

Candidates are expected to have strong organizational skills, the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and with patients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Montreal is a bilingual city, and it will be a major advantage but not mandatory for the candidate to speak English and French. The candidates will be expected to take part in writing manuscripts, procedures, grant proposals, and project reports.

The LDI is an integral part of the Jewish General Hospital and has strong academic links to McGill University. All basic science and clinical investigators at the LDI have university appointments. The LDI boasts more than 200 researchers, 100 administrative and support staff, and about 175 post-graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who receive their research training at the Institute yearly. Over the years, the LDI has been remarkably successful in attracting outstanding investigators with national and international reputations. Special areas of interest include Cancer Therapeutics, Molecular Oncology, Cell and Gene Therapy, AIDS/HIV, Aging, Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease, Clinical Epidemiology, and Psychosocial Aspects of Disease. The LDI is one of the most productive hospital-based research institutes in Canada and Quebec in terms of peer-reviewed grant funding per square feet.
